They Are Calling Us, 2005

My father represents somewhat typical middle-aged man that used to, and to some degree still does believe in Marxist ideology of the former Yugoslavia. He studied political science, became director of the Belgrade Marxist centre, then worked in the Belgrade's City Committee. He directly witnessed radical changes in the course of Serbian communists at the beginning of the '90s which lead to his drastic change of profession: today he runs a horse riding club and coaches show jumping. In that sense, I thought of my father's life story as a metaphor that lets me explore questions regarding his past and present beliefs and the legacy of his generation. Video narration is based on particular segments of my father's biography.
